About Me
Hello all! Thank you so much for your interest in my work. I’m excited to share bit about me!
My name is Jewel Millard aka Geekyloft!
I am a queer, neurodivergent, ceramic and mixed media artist based in Madison Wisconsin. I create both whimsical, geeky small-batch goods and contemplative sculptural work that draws from fantasy, folklore, and the natural world.
"Geekyloft" started out as my gamertag in college and evolved into my creative identity. My journey took a transformative turn in 2019, when a weekend game of Dungeons & Dragons rekindled my childhood love of storytelling, folklore and magic. Through role-playing, I began exploring themes of identity, grief, and healing. Those themes now deeply inform my work, which often centers around escapism, self-discovery, and play.
Growing up queer in a conservative rural town was isolating, but it also gave me a deep love for the natural world—especially native wildflowers, wildlife and quiet spaces. That rural upbringing continues to influence my creative practice, grounding it in a deep sense of place and wonder.
In 2022, my partner and I bought our first home, giving me the chance to build my own ceramic studio. I left behind years of working for others to embrace creative freedom and build a life around slow, intentional making. Whether it's dishes with a hint of magic, a gouache painting of a crane, or a sculptural ceramics with layered symbolism, my work aims to balance accessibility and artistry.
I'm an active member of the Madison Area Potters Guild and regularly vend at events like The Big Gay Market and Madison Makers Market. I am also collaborating with the International Crane Foundation on a special collection inspired by Wisconsin's Sandhill Cranes. When I'm not in the studio, you can usually find me gaming, birdwatching, or nerding out with other artists.
My goal is to create art that feels like home — honest, safe, and sometimes a little weird. If you're interested in working together or just want to say hi, please reach out via my contact page or geekyloft@gmail.com.
Stay strong, stay safe, and keep creating!
